  • BMEidea EU 2018

BME-IDEA started in 2003 when a group of professors who were teaching design in a Biomedical Engineering department or program in Stanford University realized that there were common needs among them that were not being met by current conference offerings.

The Symposium will primarily be for the members of BME IDEA network in the US and EU. Attending will be free.

The goals of the alliance are to:

    • Review the experiences of different university programs involved in innovation, design, technology transfer and entrepreneurship in biomedical engineering education
    • Discuss objectives, challenges, and opportunities for further development of these programs – including industry and academic perspectives
    • Explore the potential for sharing resources and creating community–wide tools

This year’s meeting will be hosted by Biocat and will have an approach on how to ensure the expansion of the programs beyond the BME network and take the most of it, relationships with US and involvement of Alumni. The event will also focus on how to tackle product development constraints for startups in medtech and the new medtech regulation, as well as give updates of the current EU and US programs.

Alumni will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge with participants of other programs and to explain the constrains of their project to learn from them, expanding also their network worldwide. Find Alumni Agenda here.

d·HEALTH Barcelona, Biocat's Postgraduate Program, will be presented in the event by Raquel Riera, Director of Moebio within the conference program Learning from each other: Bioengineering-based programs.

This event is possible thanks to the support from EIT Health and EIT Health Alumni, which made possible the development of the different Alumni activities to foster collaboration between projects and network expansion at both European and US level.
