    Forum der Lehre

    Das Forum der Lehre, veranstaltet von ProLehre | Medien und Didaktik, findet einmal im Jahr in den Räumen der Carl Friedrich von Siemens Stiftung am Schloss Nymphenburg statt.

    Das diesjährige Forum der Lehre findet am Donnerstag 13.Juli 2017 um 17 Uhr statt.

    Zum Forum der Lehre sind alle eingeladen, die an der Universität lehren und miteinander darüber reden wollen. Ein Vortrag zu einem Thema der Hochschullehre gibt Anregungen zu intensiven Diskussionen, die sich nach Schluss des offiziellen Teils in angenehmer Umgebung bei einem kleinen Buffet fortsetzen lassen.

    Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos, aber eine Anmeldung ist erforderlich.

    The Teaching Trick
    How to improve student learning without spending more time teaching

    When improvement of student learning is discussed, it is a common reaction to assume that any new teaching methods require a higher teaching effort. And surely, anyone can improve a course by spending 100 hours more teaching time, but for apparent reasons this is not a sustainable strategy. Instead, how can student learning be improved within a given level of teaching resources? The key principle is that teachers should spend more of their time doing things that lead to high quality learning, and less time on such things that do not lead to learning. Concrete examples will be used to illustrate the principle, challenge old ways of thinking and question some taken-for-granted practices in education. The talk offers a toolbox of concrete tips, and a powerful way to see teaching – from a learning perspective. Finally, we jointly identify any barriers to course development.

  • Die Referentin 2017

    Kristina Edström is Associate Professor in Engineering Education Development at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Since 1997 she leads and participates in educational development activities at KTH, in Sweden and internationally. She serves on the international CDIO Council and is a co-author of Crawley et al. (2014) Rethinking Engineering Education: The CDIO Approach, Springer. Kristina was awarded the KTH Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Education in 2004 and elected lifetime honorary member of the KTH Student Union in 2009. Kristina has a M.Sc. in Engineering from Chalmers, Gothenburg, Sweden. In her research she takes a critical perspective on the why, what and how of educational development. Kristina was recently appointed to become the next Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Engineering Education from 2018.
