  • B·Debate: Women's Cancer

There are approximately 3.5 million women’s deaths because of cancer every year worldwide (6,000 cases in Catalonia). Despite scientific advances on the classification of tumor subtypes and molecular drivers, further improvement of prevention and precise treatment of each case is clearly needed. To address these questions, the designed B·Debate conference aims at to present, discuss and enhance the latest basic and translational research advances in Woman’s Cancer, and give voice to patients for discussing their view and needs, essential to guide efficently research and funding efforts.

It will address the following fundamental questions:

    1) How can we improve prevention and early diagnosis?

    2) How can we improve cancer treatment and in particular of the more aggressive tumor subtypes?

     3) In what way researchers, patients and associations can better join efforts to meet the needs of patients?

This B·Debate, an initiative of Biocat and "la Caixa" Foundation, co-organized with the Catalan Institute of Oncology and Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute, aims to address the main current and future challenges and needs  in woman's cancer while it promotes the participation of patients and associations in woman’s cancer research. Cancer affects a large part of the population. Thus, patients should have a voice in the design and monitoring of the investigations, and in evaluating their impact. The aim is to bring together in one space and time "clinical-research-patients-associations" towards improving cancer diagnosis and treatment.
