    A Giving Back Case Study in Why and How! 

    Join us with Sarah Gogel Harvard College '04 and team, for the case study of YAKA, the global NGO Sarah created in Paris, with the goal of transforming the lives of underprivileged youths and immigrants.  


    "YAKA is transforming the life pathways of youth from rural and urban communities around the world through immersive social impact experiences. "

    Part I The evening will be hosted by Denise Silber, Harvard Club of France, Vice President for Communication.  

    Together we will explore, with Sarah Gogel, Wadia Chaftar, YAKA's partnerships manager, and a YAKA graduate, 

    • how to turn a dream into action, by creating an NGO
    • what a beneficiary experiences and does afterwards 
    • how you stage the growth and future goals through partnerships

    Part II: Networking cocktail in lovely Linklaters offices.


    Biography of Sarah Gogel

    Sarah Gogel, Harvard College '04 is a Franco-American social entrepreneur, human rights advocate, and teacher. Sarah's life work has been devoted to transforming the life pathways of youth from rural and urban communities around the world through immersive social impact experiences


    Her results have been recognized through awards and grants from the European Network for Global Education, Ariane de Rothschild, and the International Youth Foundation.

    The Paris-based non-profit YES Akademia (YAKA) she founded after a previous, equally successful experience in international social entrepreneurship,  has operations in France, India, Senegal, Haiti, Nicaragua. YAKA has increased the graduation rates, college enrollment, and career growth of its over 2,500 alumni. 

    Sarah also lectures on these themes at Sciences Po and Paris 8 and supports women-led causes and sustainable solutions to poverty and inequality through her involvement with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Federation for Human Rights, the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas, and the American Red Cross.

    Sarah's graduate degrees include an MA in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis, an MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work, a JD from Northeastern.
