• About CFPDP


    In Canada there are over two million people with physical disabilities. These Canadians have specialized needs for housing, education, treatment and research. Many require assistance with respect to retraining, employment and recreation. The need is great and public awareness is low. 

    The CANADIAN FOUNDATION FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED PERSONS was established in 1985 to assist people with physical disablities to live fuller lives. The foundation has since initiated a number of successful ventures such as:

    The Eternal Flame of Hope

    Besides funding the above projects the Foundation has made contributions to a number of organizations, including the following:

    • Arranged fitting recognition for paralympic medal winners 1984-2004
    • Contributed over $300,000 to Sport for Disabled Ontario
    • Provided funding to every paralympic athlete attending the Paralympic Games in Japan & Sydney 2000
    • Official sponsor to the Canadian Paralympic team - 2000 - 2004
    • Provided funding of $175, 000 to the Cheshire Homs Foundation. 
    • Provided funding of $300, 000 to establish Rotary Cheshire Home and the Canadian Helen Keller Centre
    • Sponsored Toronto with Ease handbook




    To create awareness in the government and the public and business communities of the skills, needs and abilities of persons with disabilities

    To develop awareness events that will raise funds to:

    • Develop awareness materials
    • Recognize the achievements of persons with disabilities
    • Maintain these events for continuing recognition
    • Support other organizations seeking to create awareness for persons with disabilities and to provide financial assistance to individuals sharing these objectives
    • Support conferences, seminars or meetings on issues relevant to people with disabilities
