• Planning your trip to SHINE

    The Venue

    • SHINE is based at a new venue this year: Kings Place. Home of The Guardian newspaper, it's a sustainably-designed building that brings together office space, concert halls, events venues and an art gallery. Kings Place sits in the middle of one of the biggest development projects in Europe. Take a look at some of the pictures below.
    • Kings Place is under 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross Station which is served by National Rail, London Underground and Eurostar - just come out the station, turn left down York Way and it's a few minutes walk on the right.
    • The venue has full disabled access. If you have any queries around access, please drop us an email at shine09@germination.co.uk.
    • There's also free wifi throughout the venue - we'll give you the code when you arrive at SHINE.
    • As we're keeping the ticket price as low as possible, your ticket to SHINE doesn't include hot drinks and food. Kings Place has a nice cafe called Green & Fortune where you can expect to pay between £2.50 -£4.00 for a sandwich. If you want to splash the cash, there's an inhouse restaurant. You're also free to head out at lunchtime or bring food with you (though you can't eat it in the main venue).
    • On the 2nd day, we're moving over to The Hub Kings Cross, which is a couple of minutes away from Kings Place. The Hub is a permanent space for Social Entrepreneurs

    How the Days will Run

SHINE is a two-day event and your ticket gets you into both days.

    • Day 1 at Kings Place is the main event at which you'll participate in the pre-planned content - this includes your sessions. It'll run like a festival with different things happening in each room. If you can only come to one day of SHINE, make it this one!
    • Day 2 at The Hub is much more open. You'll meet lots of new people on Day 1 at SHINE and so we want to provide a space and some time where you can come together and take your conversations forward. As well as project-planning space, make sure you book into a FREE surgery with ?What If! innovation, who are bringing a number of consultants. Plus in the morning, join in the Social Collaboration game which will get you thinking how to make more effective social impact.

    Hotels and Hostels

For those coming from outside London, here are some recommendations for hotels, all walkable from the two venues:
