Privacy policy

This privacy policy is a supplement to the XING General Privacy Policy.
XING Events is an application within the XING service.
The content of this privacy policy applies to both participants and organisers. Any differences in terms of data handling will be described separately.

If you use the XING Events services, a special XING Events user profile will be created together with a XING user profile that remains invisible.

1. Gathering, processing and usage of personal data

Essentially, you can visit XING Events' websites and their ticket shops without leaving any personal data behind.

Personal data will only be used if you actively provide it (e.g. when using our website’s services, such as ticket purchasing or registration forms for events, sending a message via our website or registering as a user on our websites). Beyond such cases, no personal data will be gathered.

Usage of personal data via XING Events (e.g. for the sending of a newsletter) is only possible as long as the user has explicitly approved of it. This approval can be revoked at any time by visiting “My Account” or by sending us a corresponding message.

If the “CO2- Compensation” option is selected with the purchase of a ticket, the attendee will receive a certificate from ClimatePartner with the attendee’s name and the name of the event. The attendee’s name and the event’s title will be sent in this case only to ClimatePartner. If this option is not selected, no user data will be sent to ClimatePartner.

Attendee Data
The attendee data gathered for an event (e.g. during a ticket purchase or event registration) will be accessible to the event organiser. This is necessary for the performance of a contract (e.g. for managing the entry at an event). The event host can determine whether certain participant data are displayed on a publicly accessible attendee list. As an attendee, you are able to remove your details from the attendee list or to contact the event organiser and XING Events with regard to this matter.

2. Use of the Facebook-Like-Button

On the XING Events website plug-ins of the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, are integrated. On our website, you find the so called “like-button” in form of a “thumbs-up”-icon. If you are looking for further information on the functionality of the Facebook-like-button you can find it here. During your visit of the XING Events website your IP address is transferred to Facebook because of a direct connection between the browser and the facebook server. Thus Facebook receives the information that you have visited our website with your IP address. Further information is in Facebook’s data use policy which you can find here.

XING Events does not receive any information on the content of the transferred data.

Only by clicking the like-button the visit on the website can be assigned to the data released in a Facebook profile. Thus Facebook can assign the visit on the XING Events websites to the Facebook user account. If you do not wish to transfer data to Facebook, you can disable an assignment of data by previously logging out from the Facebook user account.

3. Use of Google Analytics

In order to help us understand how visitors engage with our website, we use the Google Analytics web analysis tool provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses a so-called cookie (text files) saved on your computer to track visitor interactions. The information (including your IP address) generated by the cookie about your interaction with this site is sent to a Google server located in the U.S. and stored there. We have also concluded a data processing agreement with Google pursuant to Section 11 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile visitor interaction reports for website operators, and to render additional online and website-related services. Google may also forward this information to third parties if legally required to do so or if said third parties process this information on Google’s behalf. Google will not link your IP address to any other Google data.

You are at liberty to adjust your browser settings to prevent the installation of cookies. Please note, however, that you may then be unable to use all of the features provided by our website to their full extent. Google also provides deactivation tools for a number of browsers that prevent your interaction with the website from being collected and analysed.
